If you have more gastronomic aspirations, these can also be satisfied: foie gras of duck, truffles from Lalbenque, prestigeous Cahors wines…
Prestigeous Cahors wines
If you do not wish to cook, there are many good restaurants situated a stone’s throw from your accommodation offering meals at very affordable prices. Expect to pay 12€ for an excellent lunchtime menu and, in the evening, gastronomic menus are available for no more than 28€!
The Cahors vineyards are situated between the twists of the River Lot. Here is the birthplace of the Malbec grape variety more than 2,000 years ago. L’appellation d’origine contrôlée status was acquired in 1971. This type of vine covers 4,400 hectares of the Lot.
Cahors wine, the ideal companion to local food, is acclaimed to be amongst the finest in Greater South West France. It is worthy of its place on the very best tables, thanks to a new generation of talented independent winemakers.
